Mont Blanc 2004

In September 2004, I flew with Charles Godden and Mark Brownjohn to Geneva for the weekend to climb Mont Blanc. We arrived on the Friday, had a little walk in the afternoon, then set off with two guides, Bruno and Michael early the next morning. We climbed the three monts route which involves some ice climbing and the odd serac that needs negotiating. Unfortunately it was misty on top. We descended down the most popular route to the Gautier hut where we spent the night and completed the section beneath this - one of the most dangerous parts of the climb due to falling rocks in warm weather - early the next day before the rocks had time to loosen in the sun. This left plenty of time for drinks and nibbles in the evening. All in all a pretty good weekend.
